The Power Sword is a power weapon, a sword of arbitrary length and design, crafted from many different materials, usually adamantium. When its power battery is activated (usually by pressing a control button located on the handle), the blade is surrounded by a deadly halo of destructive energy. This energy field allows the blade to cut through flesh, bone, and most protective armor, making the power sword an effective melee weapon. Power swords are used by all branches of the Imperium, including the Imperial Guard and the Space Marines of the Adeptus Astartes. Xenoras such as the Eldar, their fallen cousins the Dark Eldar, and the Necrons also use similar weapons.
